Training, Retention and "Grand-fathering"

Training Requirements for BAI Candidates

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be trained by BAIT or BAIT Specialist level instructor.
  • BAI course length is approximately 8-12 hours.
  • Must pass BAI practical and score at least 70% on written test.
  • BAI course cost includes training materials ($30.00) and a course fee. (if applicable)
  • Graduates must complete and submit a "BAI Graduate Information Form."

Retention Requirements for BAI

Activity:  Teach at least one BAI course every two years.

Reporting:  Submit "Graduate Information Forms."

Registration/Membership - (Optional):  Membership in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) is $30.00/year.  Updated training materials are provided with the annual membership fee.

"Grand-fathering" Existing "NAA/NFAA/NASP Level I Instructors as "BAI"

  1. Existing "NAA/NFAA/NASP Level I instructors may obtain the BAI training materials for $30.00/packet.
  2. Those who agree to adhere to the new materials, methods and procedures will be considered "Basic Archery Instructor's" and may receive a BAI Certificate and Instructor's Card upon request.
  3. BAI retentions requirements must be met.

Training Requirements for BAIT Candidates

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
  • Must be trained by a BAIT Specialist level instructor.
  • Course length is 24 hours.  Must pass the BAIT practical and score at least 75% on written test.
  • BAIT course cost includes training materials ($35.00) and Course Fee. (if applicable)
  • Graduate must complete and submit a "Graduate Information Form."

Retention Requirements for BAIT

Activity:  Teach at least one BAI course annually, complete a BAIT Specialist course or retake the BAIT course.

Reporting:  Submit "Graduate Information Forms."

Registration/Membership - (Required):  Maintain annual membership in the national Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) @ $30.00/year.  Updated training materials are provided with annual membership fee.

Note:  If a BAIT does not meet these retention requirements he may reduce his instructor certification to BAI.

"Grand-fathering" Existing NAA/NFAA/Level II-V Instructor's as BAIT

  1. Existing "NAA/NFAA/Level II-V" instructors may obtain the BAIT training materials for $35.00/packet.
  2. Those who agree to adhere to the new materials, methods, procedures and annual membership requirements may be granted "Basic Archery Instructor Trainer" status and may receive a BAIT Certificate and Instructor Trainer Card upon request.
  3. Candidate must complete a "Graduate Information Form."
  4. BAIT retention  requirements must be met.

Training, Retention and "Grand-fathering"

Designation Requirements for BAIT Specialist Candidates

  • Must be minimum of 21 years old.
  • Must apply to the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) for a BAIT Specialist accreditation.
  • Must have been a BAIT level instructor for a minimum of 12 consecutive months.
  • Must have complied with BAI course reporting and membership requirements.At the discretion of NASP officials, the candidate must be observed and approved by an existing BAIT Specialist while teaching a BAI course and/or undergo and pass a NASP reference check.
  • The cost for a BAIT Specialist designation is $50.00 for initial registration and $30.00 for annual NASP membership.  These costs include one updated BAIT training packet.

Retention Requirements for BAIT Specialist

Activity:  Annually teach at least 2 BAIT, 4 BAI courses or 1 BAIT and 2 BAI courses.If these requirements are not met, the candidate must repeat Designation Requirements listed above to be reinstated as a BAIT Specialist.

Reporting:  Submit a "Graduate Information Form."

Registration/Membership - (Required):  Maintain annual membership in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) @$30.00/year.  Updated training materials are provided with the annual membership fee.

Note:  If a BAIT Specialist cannot or does not want to meet these retention requirements he/she may reduce their instructor classification to BAIT or BAI.

"Grand-fathering" Existing NAA/NFAA/NASP Level II.5 - V Instructors as BAIT Specialist

  1. Existing NAA/NFAA/NASP Level II.5 - V instructors may obtain the BAIT training materials for $35.00/packet.
  2. At the discretion of NASP officials, the candidates must be observed by an existing BAIT Specialist while teaching a BAIT or BAI course and/or undergo and pass a NASP reference check.
  3. The cost for a BAIT Specialist designation is $50.00 for initiation and $30.00 for annual NASP membership.  These costs include one updated BAIT training packet.
  4. Those who are approved and agree to adhere to the new materials, methods, procedures and annual membership requirements will be granted a BAIT Specialist status and may receive a BAIT SPECIALIST Certificate and Instructor Trainer Card upon request.
  5. Must complete and submit a "Graduate Information Form."
  6. BAIT SPECIALIST retention requirements must be met.
